Environmental Advisory – Sewage overflow near South Lake

News Image

The advisory issued for South Lake on 2/26/15 has now been lifted and contact with the lake water is no longer restricted. Water Quality samples taken from the lake this week indicate that the levels of bacteria are below State standards.

A sewage overflow occurred February 26, 2015 in the vicinity of South Lake, near the intersection of Winter Garden Vineland Road and Degen St. The lake may have been impacted by the overflow. As a precaution, the county is advising that there be no contact with the lake water until further notice. The area has been posted with signage. Bacteria samples will be taken and once the levels are within acceptable standards, this posting will be updated.
