Flooding washes out road, partially swallows SUV in downtown Orlando

Businesses and residents on one block of Orange Avenue were still without water Monday night as the repair work continued.

The section of road was shut down since 4 p.m. The Dodge SUV drove into the water main break around 4:30 p.m., officials said.

OUC crews were forced to wait until the SUV was pulled out of the hole before going in to excavate.

OUC said there is no indication that the incident is related to the project on Summerlin Avenue five months ago when a water main break led to a project to replace a mile and a half of water main.
