River Water Levels

What does this mean?

Levels typically follow rainfall patterns during periods of wet weather and drought. From these data, one can get a picture of how recent flood or drought events compare to historical data. It is important to look at these data along with the Water Levels Standards section to determine what levels are appropriate for a given area.

How are the data collected? (Methods)

The latest levels data on the lake or stream are recorded by individuals who read and record staff gauges on shore or by automated water level meters.

The Historic Norm for the Month is based on the average of all values for this waterbody for the current month over the entire period of record of the data. The Change from the Previous Month indicates change since the last month's average. Historic Range is generated by reporting the minimum and maximum values for this waterbody over the entire period of record.
